Duties Under the occasional supervision and/or guidance of superior/s and/or other colleagues: 1. Undertake market research in a variety of product and service areas relevant to Australian exports to China, particularly the Hangzhou and wider Zhejiang markets; assess and compile company and market opportunity information; prepare reports and make recommendations to Australian companies based on research findings. 2. Provide strategic advice to Australian companies on exporting and marketing products and services to the China market, as well as briefing them on the overall business and cultural environment. 3. Develop and maintain local networks to gain an understanding of the commercial environment in specific industry sectors. 4. Develop methods for promoting, identifying and capturing business opportunities for Australian companies. 5. Plan, coordinate and run business matching activities such as trade displays, seminars and market visits. 6. Provide interpreting services and assistance for Australian companies and business visitors at business meetings. |

Selection Criteria 1. Recent work experience and contacts in the commercial sector, preferably with multinational companies or foreign government organisations. Experience and knowledge in Hangzhou/Zhejiang market would be an advantage. 2. A good understanding of Chinese Government policies, regulations and initiatives relating to international trade and industry development. 3. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in English with Australian companies by email, telephone, fax and in person. Fluency in written and oral Mandarin Chinese is essential. Knowledge of relevant local dialects may also be an advantage. 4. Experience in using computer software solutions for business activities. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is essential. Experience using the Internet for information searching is also important. 5. Well-developed marketing skills and ability to deliver client-oriented services. 6. Ability to meet deadlines; work under pressure and work as a member of a team. 7. Willingness and ability to work sometimes flexible hours in a “virtual office” environment, occasionally working remotely from the office location using information technology (laptop computer, mobile phone, internet access) to undertake work activities. 8. A positive, confident, resourceful attitude to work that can be challenging and varied. |

Duties 1. Identify and capture opportunities to increase Australian exports and outward investment to the East China market by providing a wide range of services to Australian companies, to ensure the delivery of Austrade’s KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and revenue generation targets. 2. Undertake market research in a variety of business sectors, assess and compile company information, provide strategic advice to Australian companies seeking to develop business relationships, strategic alliances, technology transfers etc with Chinese companies and government agencies. 3. Constantly develop new market contacts and networks, and the ongoing understanding of the commercial environment in specific industry sectors as well as the changing range of Australian exporters and their capabilities. 4. Efficiently managing a constantly changing workload covering diverse industry sectors, large numbers of clients/customers, within internally and externally driven timeframes. 5. Develop methods for promoting/identifying business opportunities for Australian clients in a nominated industry sector, and exercising sound judgement to operate effectively for Australian interests in a complex business environment. 6. Organising trade visits, missions and arranging visit programs. 7. Undertake a range of client service work independently. 8. Act as the Office Manager in Hangzhou post and responsible for the office administrative management. |

Selection Criteria 1. Recent work experience with multinational companies or foreign governmental organizations, preferably in the commercial sectors with customer service experience. 2. Good understanding of international trade procedures, preferably on Australia’s export and investment capability, export principles and practices relevant to the Chinese market. 3. High level of knowledge and skills in dealing with the issues of the Chinese markets especially those applicable to East China. Ability to provide effective solutions to the needs and difficulties confronting (Australian) exporters in doing business in China. 4. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in English and Chinese (minimum in Mandarin) with Australian/Chinese companies both written and spoken. Experience in using computer software solutions for business activities. Good knowledge of Information Age and ability to implement Information Age related tasks. 5. Ability to manage conflicting work priorities and deadlines independently with limited supervision, can work under pressure and work in a team environment. 6. Demonstrated good analytical and problem solving skills, as well as good presentation and inter-personal skills. 7. At least 2 years management experience for a representative office. |
